The very first commercial machine, the EBM S12 was launched in 2003 and titanium as the base material arrived in 2004. Arcam’s Electron Beam Melting (EBM®) technology is a cost-efficient alternative to investment casting for production of CoCr parts with complex geometries. The EBM process for Arcam ASTM F75 CoCr In the Arcam Q10plus system the CoCr process runs at a powder bed temperature of ~850°C using a layer thickness of 70 µm. The EBM machines from Arcam EBM create dimensionally accurate parts quickly and efficiently by utilizing a high-power electron beam for high melting capacity and productivity.

Arcam is currently developing an EBM (Electron Beam Melting) process for the cobalt-chrome alloy Co-28Cr-6Mo (ASTM F75).
